Rare 'Fire rainbow' appears over Auckland

A rare 'Fire rainbow' was captured over Auckland yesterday afternoon. Technically known as a circumhorizontal arc its an optical phenomenon caused by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in high-altitude cirrus clouds.
