Earthquakes near Great Barrier Island

GeoNet recorded a shallow magnitude 3.0 on the Cradock Channel fault line just north of Great Barrier Island at 11:40am today, which was also registered as felt on the Island. This was followed in the same location by a 2nd smaller shallow magnitude 2.0 at 11:45am.
Today's M3.0 quake location is nearby to a M3.8 event that occurred on 11th March 1992. in recent year there was also activity in 2022 and 2021.
